OCZMA Involvement in OPAC; OCZMA Actions on Marine Reserves

OCZMA staff and several members of OCZMA’s Board participate in the Ocean Policy Advisory Council, (OPAC).

The OPAC process has become a focal point for ocean policy discussions in Oregon. Involvement in OPAC and the issues swirling around the potential establishment of a network of marine reserves on the Oregon Coast represents a major commitment of time by OCZMA staff and members.

OPAC has recently set into motion a process to amend Oregon’s Territorial Sea to address proposed new uses of the ocean.

More indepth information relating to the OPAC process, Marine Reserves and Wave Energy Activities can be found under Wave Energy/Marine Reserves/Ocean Planning Activities on the Oregon Coast.
